Overcome that Nagging Boss and Hectic Rush-Hour Traffic by Slipping into the World of the Amish

We eat a lot of sweet potatoes at our place, and I enjoy them with Land O' Lakes Cinnamon Spread, a little shake of Tarragon, and some Praline Pecans. How do you like your sweet potatoes? Any family traditions or memories involving sweet potatoes?
Share your stories here and be entered to win a fall-themed gift bag stuffed with Amish goodies. I am going up to Amish Country on October 1st to film for my next book trailer. Will you be the winner?
Love from the simple life,

my mom always makes her sweet potato casserole with brown sugar, pecans, and butter topping...my youngest daughter said mine just doesn't taste quit like her granny's (I told mom and she said she always uses fresh sweet potatoes to make hers and I used canned ones...my bad!)...lol Rhonda

Rhonda,
ReplyDeleteMy mother uses canned, but I use fresh ones, so we are opposite too. My daughter says that nanny's is still the best because she uses more marshmallows than I use in my recipe(this is a girl who eats marshmallows by the bag!) I hope that you're having a wonderful week!
We used to enjoy a Sweet Potato dish my Dear Grandmother would make at Thanksgiving. If I close my eyes I can still see, smell and taste it. I think the secret ingredient was the love she blended into it for her family. Thank you for taking me to that memory and the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteTerri,
DeleteSecret family recipes are always the best. My grandma's specialty was her homemade custard at Christmas time. She would make a big, white 5-gallon bucket full.
We always baked our sweet potatoes and ate them with butter....lots of butter. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteLOVE lots of Land O' Lakes butter!!
